I borrowed and modified a lot of this text from Benebell Wen:
My tarot readings do not purport to tell the future or your fortune with certainty, cure misfortune, commune supernaturally, or perform any service that would be in conflict with the laws of the land. No representations can be made whatsoever about the accuracy of the reading and should not be construed as predictive or psychic. Your reading is an objective process where cards are drawn, a subjective meaning is placed on those cards per certain reading traditions and systems, and it is believed that such subjective meanings can be a meaningful or interesting experience.
All readings are confidential. However, if there is reason to believe that you may be at imminent risk of harm to yourself or to others, then the contents of your reading may be disclosed to professional third parties on a need-to-know basis for the sole purpose of preventing risk of harm. A court order issued by a judge could also override any confidentiality terms herein.
A tarot reading should never be used in place of professional counseling. Your reading cannot offer legal, medical, business, or financial advice nor does any portion of your reading herein purport to. You should not rely on a tarot reading to make any decision that would affect your legal, financial, or medical condition. If your inquiry involves the law, finance, or medicine, then you should seek the advice of a licensed or qualified legal, financial, or medical professional. Also, a tarot reading cannot replace qualified mental health care.
In certain jurisdictions, a tarot professional is required to disclose to you that tarot readings should be for entertainment purposes only, and if such a law applies to your reading, then you are hereby on notice thereof.
I will serve the best interests of my clients, conducting my professional activities without causing or intending to cause harm.
I will at all times maintain an ethical and professional relationship with my clients.
I will not abuse a client’s trust and vulnerability.
I will treat all my clients with equal respect, regardless of their origin, race, religion, gender, age, or sexual orientation.
I will represent honestly my tarot qualifications and experience.
I will not knowingly perform tarot readings for anyone under 18 years of age.
I will not perform tarot readings for third parties.
I will refuse certain questions, which I will determine on a case-by-case basis (e.g., related to medical or legal issues).
I will keep confidential the names of clients and all information shared or discussed during readings, unless otherwise requested by the client or required by a court of law.
I will not give advice in areas for which I am not qualified. This includes areas that I believe would require a physician, psychologist, lawyer, financial adviser, accountant, or any other professional service for which I am not qualified. I will encourage clients to seek such services from qualified professionals, and I will make appropriate referrals wherever possible.
I will interpret a reading to the best of my ability and will admit when I cannot interpret something.
I will always tell the truth. I will respect a client’s clearly expressed desire not to know or explore certain issues.
I will always provide readings with compassion and in a nonjudgmental manner.
I will not let my clients become overly dependent upon my services, nor pressure them for return visits.
I reserve the right to refuse to read for any client, and I will return any compensation for such a reading.
I will endeavor to study those things that will advance my own professional development and aid me in giving better readings.
I will treat my professional colleagues with respect.
